about the site
We created the Jack Russell Dog Detective site because we wanted to share the story of how we came to write this series. It is also a good place to answer the questions readers and their friends and families may have. On this site, you will find answers to the following questions, and more.
Q. What are the titles in the Jack Russell series?
A. Click THE JACK RUSSELL SERIES tab.
Q. What are the titles in the Pet Vet series?
A. Click the PET VET tab.
Q. What are the titles in the Pup Patrol series?
A. Click the PUP PATROL tab
Q. How many books are there?
A. As of September 2015, there are 12 published titles in the Jack series, and 6 in the Pet Vet series and 4 in the Pup Patrol series.
Q. What is the reading order?
A. The books can be read in any order, but publication order is best.
Q. Why does it say The Ham Heist is Book 12? It seems to be Book 11.
A. Kane Miller elected not to publish Fowl Play, which is Book 9 in Australia.
Q. Where can we buy the books?
A. Click the HOW TO BUY tab
Q. Are Jack and Trump and Stamp real dogs?
A. Not exactly, but Jack is based on a real dog. You can read her story in ALL ABOUT ACE . Other characters who share names with real animals or people include Preacher, Fat Molly Cat, Kiarna, Peter Wu, Hayley Seeney, Donna and Terry. Trump is based on two real dogs, named Jeanie and Trump. Stamp's companion, grumpy little Ace, shares her name with a real dog but the real Ace is not really grumpy.
Q. Will there be more Jack Russell stories?
A. Book 12 is the last at present
Q. Do you have any dogs?
A. Yes! You can see their pictures here and there on this site
Q. What other books have you written?
A. We have lots of titles. You can find out about those on the LINKS page.
Q. What ages are the Jack Russell, Pet Vet and Pup Patrol series intended for?
A. Readers of seven and up enjoy Jack, while Pet Vet and Pup Patrol are more suited to a slightly older reader. Some parents have read Jack aloud to children as young as four or five, and we also get letters from children of eleven or twelve. Adults report enjoying the puns and observations on dog concerns.
The main proviso is that readers should be able to (a) appreciate puns, (b), understand the significance of clues and detecting and (c) understand Jack and the others are DOGS and thus look at life from a canine point of view.
If you have any questions not answered on the site, we will be happy to hear from you.
